FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Pamela S. Mortensen with JCPenney and Donald C. Lee with The Walt Disney Company were honored as outstanding alumni of Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the college's commencement ceremony May 12 in Barnhill Arena at the University of Arkansas.
Bumpers College Dean Michael E. Vayda presented the Outstanding Alumni award to Mortensen, who received a B.S. degree in home economics in 1977, and the Outstanding Young Alumni award to Lee, who received an M.S. degree in agricultural economics in 2002.
Mortensen, a Bentonville native, is senior vice president and general merchandise manager of jewelry, watches and fashion accessories at JCPenney based in Plano, Texas, and she had a similar position at Walmart in Bentonville. She started her jewelry career at Zale Corporation in Dallas.
Lee, a native of Kansas City, Mo., is manager of sourcing and procurement for The Walt Disney Co. in Anaheim, Calif. He manages the strategic involvement of sourcing resources to create value added opportunities. He began his career with the MasterFoods division of MARS where he also developed strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Lee received a B.S. degree in 1998 from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee.
