Turf field day features new products, latest research

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture will host a Turfgrass Field Day Aug. 3 at the Arkansas Agricultural Research and Extension Center, located two miles north of the university campus in Fayetteville.
The field day will offer up-to-date information about new products and Division of Agriculture turfgrass research. It will feature a trade show and an opportunity to network with industry professionals.
Pesticide applicator recertification will also be offered during the event.
Research presentations will include:
• new grass cultivars for lawns, sports fields and golf;
• pest control studies;
• drought tolerance research;
• putting green management;
• fertility testing; and
• sports field construction.
Mike Richardson, professor of horticulture, said, “We’re expecting a great turn-out for the field day. The University of Arkansas Turfgrass Field Day draws more than 200 professionals annually.”
Registration and the trade show begin at 7:30 a.m. Research tours begin at 9 a.m and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. The pesticide recertification session begins at 1 p.m.
