KIBLER, Ark. — The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture pea breeding program will be the focus of a field day Friday (Aug. 22) at the division's Vegetable Research Station, located south of Alma near Kibler.

The Southern Pea Field Day will begin with registration from 8:30 to 9 a.m., followed by a short program and a tour of field research plots.

Southern pea breeder Teddy Morelock will discuss performance of recent variety releases, Ebony and Envoy, along with other varieties and breeding lines in the pipeline.

 Other topics will include weed control and research by weed scientist Nilda Burgos, including screening of herbicides not currently registered for southern pea and insect pest management research by entomologist Paul McLeod.
